Procedure to enter the UWA (FNAS) - Chinese University Articulation program

 

At Chinese University (home university):

1. Student self-assessment: 

a. The averaged score (>70%) of the courses over the first 1.5 years;

b. English proficiency (IELTS 6.5 with no band < 6.0); Or willing to take an English language course at CELT of UWA, if IELTS < 6.5);

c. Willing to pay the tuition fee, living costs and fee for the English language course, for 2-3 years (approximately AU$48,000 per year for visa application).

2. Contact the personnel in charge of the program at your college (usually, Dean or Deputy Dean) and at the Officer of International Cooperation and Exchanges of the University by the end of the 3rd semester, or the 4th semester, and apply for entering the program (with a personal statement, the transcripts and IELTS Test Report). 

3. The Officer of International Cooperation and Exchanges assesses qualification of the candidate according to the Articulation Agreement, and recommends the qualified candidate to UWA. The recommendation, with all supporting documents (completed UWA Undergraduate Application Form, all transcripts in English, a copy of IELTS Test Report, Student’s CV, an approval letter from the home university), will be emailed to the UWA contact (Professor Shimin Liu, shimin.liu@uwa.edu.au).

At UWA:

1. The Undergraduate Admissions of International Centre forwards the application to the coordinator(s) of Schools and FNAS for an assessment of qualification of the transcripts, and a check on availability of the selected course.

2. To the qualified student, International Centre will issue an Offer a position in the selected course and Acceptance Contract, and email them to the student. 

3. Once receiving returned Acceptance Contract from the student, International Centre will issue the eCOE (Confirmation of Enrolment), and email it to the student.

4. International Centre will also notice the Chinese University acceptance of the application by email. 

The student:

1. Once receiving Acceptance Contract, sign the Contract and Policy for Refund of Fees and also make the payment indicated on the Offer.  This includes the tuition fees for one semester, and also Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of the course.  This should be post back to International Centre, so International Centre can issue the eCOE. All the documents can be scanned and emailed or faxed, and then sent later.  Please also send a copy of the bank receipt for payment of the fees.

2. Once receiving the eCOE, apply for a student visa to enter Australia. 

Please note: a) a period of THREE months should be allowed for processing a visa application according to information from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship.

b) The whole fund that supports you to study at UWA should be credited and remained in a bank account 6 months (3 months if apply from April 2011) in advance of the submission of your visa application.   

3. Notice both the Chinese University (College and Office of International Cooperation and Exchanges) and UWA (International Centre) a possible date you plan to arrive at UWA.
